The US ATS-ready résumé for accountants moving from the Philippines

US employers screen accounting résumés through an ATS keyed to US GAAP and US accounting software — not the PFRS and local tools you trained on. A Philippine CV with a photo, birthdate, and duties-only bullets reads as unfamiliar with US norms and gets filtered. Here's how to translate your accounting experience for the US market.

Why accountant résumés from the Philippines get filtered in the US

PFRS/IFRS framing where US GAAP is expected

You likely trained under PFRS (IFRS-based). US postings want US GAAP. Where your work maps across — accruals, revenue recognition, month-end close — state it in US GAAP terms, and name US GAAP explicitly in your skills so the ATS matches it. Don't leave the standard implicit.

Local software instead of the US stack

US employers search for 'QuickBooks,' 'NetSuite,' 'SAP,' 'Oracle,' and advanced Excel. A résumé listing only local or generic 'accounting systems' misses those keywords. List every US-relevant platform you've touched by its exact name.

Duties listed, close cycles and volumes not quantified

'Handled accounts payable and reconciliations' is invisible to a US recruiter. Quantify: 'Managed AP for 200+ vendors,' 'Closed the books in 5 business days,' 'Reconciled $4M in monthly transactions with zero variances.' Scale and accuracy are what US hiring managers screen for.

Photo, civil status, and CPA context that doesn't transfer

Strip the photo, birthdate, civil status, and religion. If you're a Philippine CPA, say so plainly and note US licensure status honestly — don't imply a US CPA you don't hold. Keep the résumé to one page and lead with US-relevant skills.

Accountant résumé FAQ (Philippines → US)

I trained under PFRS/IFRS, not US GAAP. Can I still apply for US accounting jobs?
Yes. Much of the work overlaps — close, reconciliations, AP/AR, financial statements. Present it in US GAAP language, name US GAAP where you've applied equivalent principles, and be upfront about which US-specific areas you'd be learning.
Which accounting software should I put on a US résumé?
Whatever US employers actually use and you genuinely know — most commonly QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle, plus advanced Excel. Name each explicitly, because the ATS matches the exact software title in the job posting.
Should I list my Philippine CPA license?
List it clearly as a Philippine CPA, and state your US licensure or eligibility status honestly. US recruiters value the credential but need to know whether you hold or are pursuing a US CPA — never imply one you don't have.
