The UK ATS-ready CV for product managers moving from Nigeria

UK product roles draw huge applicant volumes, so an ATS and a skim-reading recruiter both gate your CV before a hiring manager sees it. A Nigerian PM CV that opens with personal bio-data and describes duties rather than outcomes won't survive either. Here's how to reframe it for the UK market.

Why product manager CVs from Nigeria get filtered in the UK

Responsibilities instead of product outcomes

UK PM hiring is outcome-led. Replace 'responsible for the roadmap' with metric-backed wins — 'Launched a checkout redesign that lifted conversion 18%'. Name the discipline: 'discovery', 'A/B testing', 'OKRs', 'go-to-market'.

Missing the UK's exact PM keywords

An ATS matches terms like 'product discovery', 'stakeholder management', 'backlog prioritisation', 'roadmap' and 'Agile/Scrum'. If the advert says 'Jira' and 'user research', those literal phrases need to appear on your CV.

Bio-data header and printed referees

Lead with a 3–4 line personal statement, not date of birth, marital status, state of origin, religion or a photo. Delete printed referees — UK convention is 'References available on request'.

No sponsorship line and over two pages

State your right-to-work or Skilled Worker sponsorship need clearly, and keep the CV to two pages — lead with your strongest product outcomes, not a full career history.

UK ATS keywords recruiters screen for

Mirror the ones the job posting uses — truthfully, and proven inside a real bullet, not just listed. Our free checker tells you which you’re missing.

Product Manager CV FAQ (Nigeria → UK)

How do I make a UK product CV stand out to an ATS and a recruiter?
Lead every role with a quantified outcome (conversion, retention, revenue) and mirror the advert's exact PM terms — 'product discovery', 'stakeholder management', 'Agile' — so both the ATS and the recruiter see an immediate match.
Do I need UK product experience to apply?
Not necessarily, but frame your Nigerian experience in metrics and UK terminology, and be explicit about right-to-work or sponsorship so recruiters don't screen you out on uncertainty.
Should my UK PM CV have a photo or personal details?
No — no photo, date of birth, marital status, religion or state of origin. Open with a concise personal statement instead.
