US GAAP where the UK wants IFRS and FRS 102
UK accountancy runs on IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 102), not US GAAP. Name the standards you've actually applied — 'IFRS 15', 'IFRS 16', 'FRS 102' — because the ATS and hiring managers screen on them directly.
ICAN not mapped to ACCA/ACA/CIMA
UK employers recognise ACCA, ACA (ICAEW) and CIMA. If you hold ICAN, state your ACCA exemptions or membership route explicitly, and map your degree via UK ENIC — otherwise the ATS can't place your qualification.
US software instead of the UK's Sage and Xero
UK SMEs and practices run Sage and Xero, with Excel and NetSuite in larger firms. List the packages the advert names, plus UK-specific processes — 'VAT returns', 'HMRC', 'PAYE', 'month-end close'.
Bio-data block, printed referees and too many pages
Open with a personal statement, not date of birth, marital status, state of origin or religion, and no photo. Remove printed referees ('References available on request') and cut the CV to two pages.

- UK employers hire around ACCA, ACA and CIMA. ICAN members often qualify for ACCA exemptions — state your exemption status or membership route on the CV, and have your degree assessed by UK ENIC for comparability.
- Which accounting standards should I put on a UK CV?
- IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 102) — name the specific standards you've applied, such as IFRS 15 or IFRS 16. Don't list US GAAP unless a specific role asks for it.
- Should I include my date of birth and referees like on a Nigerian CV?
